According to reports, Tyson Fury is considering stepping out of his recent retirement to prepare for the much-anticipated fight with Anthony Joshua.
Following his second loss to Oleksandr Usyk in December of last year, the Gypsy King declared his retirement last month with immediate effect.
“Hello everyone, In a video he posted to social media, he stated, “I’m going to keep this brief and to the point.” I want to declare that I have retired from boxing. I’ve enjoyed every moment of it; it’s been an absolute blast.
“This is how I’m going to end… Dick Turpin was disguised. I’ll meet you on the other side. God bless you, everyone. Wake up!
The video released in January was Fury’s fifth retirement from the sport; he has already made four comebacks.
And there might still be hope for the all-British match that the two combatants have been talking about for years at this point.
Only a few weeks after deciding to fight Joshua, Fury is thinking about stepping out of retirement, according to Boxing Kingdom.
Joshua might have contributed to the conjecture by sharing a mysterious Instagram post just before the announcement was made.
With the comment, “The game is the game (black pawn emoji),” the heavyweight giant posted a photo of himself playing chess from a more sunny location. The celebrity has frequently mentioned that he enjoys the game.
It’s unclear if the post alludes to negotiations taking on behind the scenes, but Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has been eager to arrange the fighter’s next bout since Joshua lost to Daniel Dubois in September.
Hearn ruled out Fury as long as the fighter is still retired, stating that Joshua would be well-suited to face either Joseph Parker or Dubois, who are scheduled to face each other this weekend in Saudi Arabia.
Fury, 36, was spotted this week having breakfast with Sir Alex Ferguson, the great manager of Manchester United, suggesting that he is currently enjoying his retirement.
Ferguson and Fury were seen in a photo released by Ring Magazine consuming a variety of breakfast foods, such as eggs Benedict, and tea.
An avid supporter of Manchester United, Fury has already expressed his wish to fight at Old Trafford.
