Tyson Fury was all smiles as he left a bowling alley in Morecambe last night, seemingly confirming his next fight after a period of uncertainty. Despite the stormy weather, the 6ft 9in WBC champion opted for a casual look, sporting a pair of shorts and his own merchandise, including a zip-up track jacket emblazoned with “Gypsy King” and a cap.
Fury was in high spirits as he walked to his lift home alongside his wife, Paris, and some friends. This upbeat demeanor came despite his recent frustrations regarding delays in finalizing his next opponent, which led to a fiery outburst aimed at Anthony Joshua.
The heavyweight champion also had reason to celebrate, as he informed Dillian Whyte that he has finally secured his WBC world title shot. Fury holds the green and gold belt that Whyte is the mandatory challenger for. However, Fury had previously suggested that Whyte consider a £5 million offer to step aside and allow him to face Oleksandr Usyk, the WBA, IBF, and WBO champion.
.
Usyk is currently obligated to rematch Joshua, who has been contemplating a similar deal worth around £15 million to allow the Fury vs. Usyk fight to take place in Saudi Arabia, provided he gets a guaranteed shot at the winner.
After four delayed purse bids for the Fury vs. Whyte clash, the final auction is set for Mexico City on Friday. Fury indicated that negotiations are now over, and he is ready to face Whyte. In a playful tone, he exclaimed, “I can’t wait to punch Dillian Whyte’s face right in, mate. I am going to give him the best hiding he has ever had in his life. Dillian Whyte, train hard because you are going to get annihilated, bum.”
Fury’s confident remarks and positive attitude suggest he is eager for the challenge ahead.
