Benny Blanco recently shared a heartfelt behind-the-scenes video of his proposal to Selena Gomez, filmed during a Taco Bell-themed picnic where he popped the question.

The video, posted on Blanco’s Instagram and TikTok, features Selena’s song “Good for You,” which includes the lyric “I’m a marquise diamond,” referencing the cut of the diamond in her engagement ring. The couple toasted with champagne before the video shows a delighted Selena.

The romantic picnic took place on a soundstage, and Selena announced her engagement on December 11, sharing a photo of her ring along with affectionate pictures of the couple. She captioned her post, “Forever begins now.”

Blanco and Selena began dating in June 2023 after being friends for about a decade, having met while working on her music. He has produced several of her major hits, including “I Can’t Get Enough” and “Same Old Love.”

Blanco’s proposal prominently featured Selena’s favorite food, Taco Bell, leading fans to speculate that the fast-food chain sponsored the event. However, Taco Bell denied any corporate involvement but extended their best wishes, stating, “We can hear the wedding bells now!”

Jeweler Laura Taylor described Selena’s engagement ring as an exquisite design with an approximately 8-carat marquise-cut diamond set on a yellow gold pavé band.

Earlier in their relationship, Taco Bell played a role in another romantic gesture when Blanco gifted Selena Taco Bell for Valentine’s Day, along with movie theater nachos and her favorite Texas pickles.

Blanco recounted on Kai Cenat’s Twitch stream that it was Selena who asked him out, recalling, “She literally asked me… ‘You wanna get dinner?'” He admitted he didn’t realize it was a date initially and thought they were just hanging out.

After their first dinner, he recognized her interest and eventually kissed her, leading to their relationship.
