Selena Gomez surprised fans on Wednesday night by announcing her engagement to boyfriend Benny Blanco after just over a year of dating.

The 32-year-old singer shared the exciting news on Instagram, posting the first photos of her stunning diamond engagement ring to her 422 million followers. She captioned the post: “forever begins now..”

In one photo, Gomez showcased her ring while Blanco, 36, wrapped his arm around her and kissed her head. It appears Blanco proposed during a romantic nighttime picnic.

Gomez received a flood of love from fans and celebrity friends, including Cardi B, Jennifer Aniston, and Gwyneth Paltrow. Blanco also playfully commented, referring to Gomez as his “wife,” writing, “hey wait… that’s my wife,” which garnered nearly 150,000 likes.

The couple began dating in June 2023, though Gomez confirmed their relationship publicly in December, revealing on Instagram that they had been secretly dating for six months and that he was her “absolute everything.”

Previously, Gomez has dated The Weeknd, Zedd, Nick Jonas, Taylor Lautner, and had a notable on-and-off relationship with Justin Bieber that lasted eight years before they split in 2018. Bieber is now married to model Hailey Bieber, with whom he welcomed a baby son in August.

Before their romance, Gomez and Blanco were friends for over a decade and collaborated on music, with Blanco producing some of her biggest hits, including “I Can’t Get Enough” and “Same Old Love.”

Last month, Blanco shared that it was Gomez who made the first move, saying, “She asked me out. It was crazy. She literally asked me… like we were just talking, and then she said, ‘You wanna get dinner?'” He noted he didn’t realize it was a date at first.
