Zoe Saldana, Karla Sofía Gascon, and Selena Gomez are all on the face of a new magazine for the show Emilia Perez.
Karla is the lead in the Spanish-language musical comedy. She plays a cartel boss who pretends to die so she can change her gender and become a woman.
Emilia Perez got a lot of praise at its opening at the Cannes Film Festival. Sofia, Zoe, Karla, and Adriana Paz, who was also in the movie, shared the award for best actress.
The movie opened in a few theaters in the US and Canada on November 1. It finally came out on Netflix this Wednesday, and reviewers loved it.
Its three best-known actors are back together in a stylish way on one of the covers of this year’s Elle Women In Hollywood issue.
Selena raved in the magazine about how her “sisterhood” with Zoe and Karla “ended up becoming what got us through” the process of making the movie.
Selena wore a shirt, jacket, and hose by McQueen by Sean McGirr on the cover, while Zoe and Karla both wore Ralph Lauren.
It was true, Selena, that the Emilia Perez story “was one of those things that you read and thought, how on earth could this be made?” It’s too crazy. It was so exciting, but it could also be done badly.
Zoe, on the other hand, was honest about how different it was for her to be one of three female stars in a project.
When I was very young, being the only girl in a whole cast made me feel strong. The Avatar actress said, “But after doing too many of those projects, it’s a lonely place to be the only woman.”
She also said this about Selena: “I would look at Selena and just hear her talk and watch her command a room with so much humility.” “This young woman who is such a boss lady has an air about her that makes me feel like I’ll always follow any advice or direction she gives me.”
Karla, who is from Spain, said it was “a little hard for me at first” to work with two amazing American celebrities. When I worked with two Hollywood stars, I had to really let go of the fandom that anyone would have.
“It took some work for me,” she admitted. It might have put our relationship at risk sometimes, but I wanted them to feel like family and that nothing would get in the way of our work.
Selena gushed over Karla and said, “I’ve never been more artistically challenged.” The way she performs and the way she works hard show that she is strong. That would really amaze me, and I would feel a little scared.
“Zoe would come to work every day so thankful that she was there,” she said. That could bring us together. I feel very lucky that these women came into my life, and I hope they stay with me forever.
Selena also raved about Meryl Streep in another part of the interview. Streep recently appeared on Selena’s hit Hulu show Only Murders In The Building.
The singer said, “I remember being on set with Meryl Streep and trying to shoot her side so that she could go home and have the next day off.”
“Wait, no, why aren’t we turning around?” she asked near the end of the day. “Oh, we’ll do that tomorrow,” they said. “No, no, I have to come in. I should be here for them,” she says.
“It was so classy and showed that she really still loved the craft and that she wanted to be there for us too,” the Come And Get It singer gushed. I’ll never forget how she was singing on set without shoes on because she loved what she was doing. I want to have that spirit, love what I do, and always be there for people.

Even though the cover star was John Krasinski, the fact that Benny was in it at all caused a lot of controversy because of how he looked.
Some people thought he was “redefining sexy” with his humor and style, while others found it hard to understand.
One person on X (formerly Twitter) joked, “Selena paid for this.” Another wrote, “Benny Blanco and sexiest man alive should never be in the same sentence.” And a third asked, “Did they throw a dart blindfolded to pick?”
