After saying she couldn’t have children of her own because of “medical issues,” Selena Gomez told people who didn’t like her to “f*** off.”
The 32-year-old actor from ‘The Only Murders in the Building’ recently shared a sweet moment with her goddaughter after losing an Emmy. In a now-viral clip on X, she responded to critics while at an event for women in film.
As a defense, the singer said in the video that she was “vulnerable” when she talked about her health and asked for “help.”
Gomez said, “I think there is power in being open and telling people when you need and want help.” She said this while sitting at a table next to her younger sister Gracie.
“That is not poor.” I did say that I can’t carry a child. Of course, I told you that I have bipolar disease. “F*** off.”
Once she was done speaking, Selena got cheers and praise from the other people in the room.
The star also said, “I want to be an advocate for women, which is why I share and why I like to be honest because everyone is going through something.”
Gomez was honest and said, “I don’t have it all together.” I’m not a, well, whatever. I can only be myself.
The former Disney Channel star turned to her sister and put her hand on her shoulder. “So, never let anyone tell you that you’re not a good person,” she said.
At the end of the video, Selena said, “So screw anyone who tells you you’re a victim.” You’ve made it through, in my book.
The star was interviewed in Vanity Fair’s October issue earlier this month, and her answer comes soon after.
Gomez told the outlet that she can’t have children of her own because of health problems.
“I’ve never said this before, but I’m afraid I can’t carry my children.” There are many health problems I have that could put my life and the baby’s in danger. I had to cry over that for a while.
Selena did say, though, that she still wants to have a child one day. “It might not be how I had imagined it.” I thought it would happen the same way it does for everyone else.
“That makes me feel a lot better.” I’m thankful that there are wonderful people who are willing to adopt or do surrogacy, which are both big options for me.
She also said, “It made me grateful for the other options for people who want to be moms.” I’m one of them. I’m looking forward to that trip, but it will be a little different.
She also said that the child will still be hers whether she has a baby through surrogacy or adoption.
“I don’t care in the end.” I’ll have it. The Wolves singer told Vanity Fair, “It’ll be my baby.”
Gomez has said in the past that she wants to have a child one day. In May of this year, she came clean about her plans to adopt a child when she turned 35 before she started dating Benny Blanco.
The star said, “I was alone for five years, and I got used to it,” while at the Time 100 Most Influential Companies event.
“Many people are scared of being alone. I think I tortured myself in my head for about two years by being alone, but then I kind of got used to it.”
