After being asked to sing the National Anthem at their big game, the Telluride High School girl’s volleyball team in Colorado got a treat from Selena Gomez.

The 32-year-old singer of “Same Old Love” stopped by the high school on Saturday while she was in town for the 2024 Telluride Film Festival. She and her boyfriend Benny Blanco have been linked to wedding rumours.

She shared a video of herself on Instagram as she walked up to the volleyball court and volleyball players and gamegoers swarmed her.

The head of Rare Beauty looked classy in a blazer and jeans as she helped the team start the game.

“They asked!” I couldn’t help myself—it was my first time in Telluride! It was written by Gomez.

She showed a picture of the sign that the girls’ volleyball team at Telluride High School made asking her to perform at one of their two home games.

A board had an orange sign stuck to it that said, “Selena Gomez, Please sing the National Anthem at one of our home games ~ THS Volleyball Team.”

It had hearts on it and an email address from a teacher on it. 

Gomez signed autographs and posed for selfies while Karla Sofia Gascon and Adriana Paz, who play Emilia Pérez’s co-stars, were there.

It’s not clear if Gomez sang the National Anthem at Saturday’s game, but she did post a video of herself in the school gym while fans yelled her name.

People who followed her were thrilled when she showed up out of the blue. The post got almost 2 million likes and hundreds of positive comments.

A friend named Adelaine Morin called her “the people’s princess.” Benny Blanco, her boyfriend, left three heart-eye and red-heart emojis.

This weekend, she’s going to the Telluride Film Festival to promote her newest movie, Emilia Pérez, which is available on Netflix.

An official summary of the movie says that it’s about a Mexican lawyer who is asked to help a “feared cartel boss retire from his business and disappear forever by becoming the woman he’s always dreamed of being.”

Later that same day, Selena posted a video to her Instagram Story of her and her boyfriend Benny enjoying a loving moment.

She had a big smile on her face as the music director kissed the Wizards of Waverly Place star all over.

A pink heart emoji was added by the actress to the cute video. 

The two started dating in secret in the middle of 2023, and there have been rumors that they are going to get engaged.

Selena was seen in Los Angeles a few days ago with a gold band on her left ring finger. 

In a selfie she posted to Instagram earlier this month, she covered up her left hand with a love emoji, which added to the rumors that she was engaged.

There was a “tip” on the gossip site DeuxMoi that said Gomez and Blanco “got engaged” in August while “surrounded by friends at their usual beach house hang out.” The selfie came soon after.

They were first linked in 2015 when they worked together on Selena’s hit song “Same Old Love.”
