Selena Gomez is’sad’ about the beauty expectations of her generation.

The 31-year-old actress believes that there are’very unrealistic’ goals in the realm of beauty, criticizing the usage of airbrushing and filter techniques.

Speaking at the TIME100 Summit, she stated, ‘Personally, I believe that there is a highly unattainable standard in the cosmetic world, which makes me sad for my generation. 

“And for anyone to look at something that’s probably been touched up and made to look nice… I just wanted to break that down.”

The Only Murders in the Building star is the founder of Rare Beauty, but she admits she has no idea how to apply cosmetics.

And she merely hopes that people ‘feel nice’ when they buy her company’s blushes and lipsticks.

She stated, ‘I don’t know how to do cosmetics, yet I have a makeup line. I wanted them to feel good about utilizing my products. 

‘And all of our items are named after uplifting things, from our Find Comfort line to anything that comes to mind, body, and soul. We strive to be very careful of even naming the products to be reminders of joy or simply discovering yourself.’

Selena, who rose to prominence on Disney Channel as a teen, claimed that her primary purpose was to create ‘fun’ cosmetics for her followers.

She had’spent years’ wanting to appear a certain way, which she admitted was ultimately a ‘waste of time’.

‘So I honestly wanted to create makeup that was enjoyable for others. I do not believe in needing to look a certain way. I’ve been trying to do it for years, and it’s draining. ‘Waste of time.

This comes after her boyfriend Benny Blanco said he was ‘the last one to realize’ that he was in love with Gomez. 

The 36-year-old record producer and the brunette beauty announced their relationship late last year, but Benny has now stated that it took him a long time to realize he is in love with Selena.

Benny told WSJ. Magazine: ‘I was the last to know.

‘It’s strange how your lover can be sitting right in front of your eyes the entire time and you don’t notice.

‘And then you have that Clueless moment where you go, “Wait, I’m in love.”‘

An informant previously stated that Selena, 31, feels’safe and secure’ with the musician.

According to an Entertainment Tonight source, Benny is an excellent communicator, is honest and open with Selena, and pays attention to her.

‘He is courteous, not a player, and is not seeking limelight or glory.

‘He doesn’t care about all of that, and Selena notices and trusts him.’

Selena, who has previously dated Justin Bieber and The Weeknd, believes she can be ‘her most true self with Benny without wondering his potential motives.’

The source went on to say, ‘It’s taken a lot for her to let someone in, but Benny has shown himself to her, and she values his ideas and beliefs.

‘She believes she can give him a piece of her heart that she hasn’t been able or ready to offer in a relationship in a long time.

‘Selena feels like she’s finally discovered one of the nice guys, which has been extremely invigorating for her.’

This comes after Gomez revealed that she felt better after being diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

The diva publicly confirmed in 2020 that she had been diagnosed with the mental health problem, and Selena has now stated that the discovery came as a relief to her.

Selena revealed during the TIME100 Summit in New York City, “All these confusing things were happening.”

‘When I eventually got the answer, it wasn’t, “Oh, I have this problem.” It made me feel better to know and grasp what was going on in my thoughts.”

Selena has discovered several ways to cope with the issue, including sharing her story with others.

The actress from ‘The Only Murders in the Building’ stated, ‘Once you start to share a little bit, you just realize how much less alone you are and how many of us are more alike than different.’
